Position Overview:

CDISC Data Science develops and maintains several software applications to advance data science in medical research, including the CDISC Open Rules Engine (CORE), CORE Rules Editor, CDISC Library metadata repository, Data Standards Browser, standards metadata pipeline, standards authoring tools, and others. CDISC plays a leadership role in developing and maintaining open-source applications that drive innovation in medical research.

CDISC seeks to hire a creative and passionate Software Engineer with Python and JavaScript software development experience. Cloud experience is strongly preferred. The Software Engineer will join our software development team to create new products as well as enhance existing ones.

Location: Remote

Salary: Annual salary US$100,000-$140,000 based on experience

Reports to: Software Engineering Manager

Position Type: Exempt, Full-Time

Responsibilities:

Develop software applications that advance medical research, including the CORE rule engine, CORE Rules Editor, CDISC Library metadata repository, Data Standards Browser, standards metadata pipeline, and standards authoring tools.
Collaborate with the CDISC software development, rule authoring, and data science teams to create solutions that advance the CDISC mission.
Collaborate with the system administrator in support of the overall technology stack.
Participate in agile development methods.
Create and maintain API policies to support both Member & Community users of CDISC Library.
Participate in the development and maintenance of open-source applications that implement the CDISC standards.
Participate in documenting, estimating task duration, tracking, communicating, and updating project management in support of product development.
Resolve or escalate issues with urgency when they arise.
Adhere to all CDISC policies and procedures, including the Code of Ethics and the Intellectual Property Policy.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2 years of professional experience in a related development role.
Development experience with Python and JavaScript (Node.js, TypeScript).
Development experience with React, or equivalent tool.
Development experience with web-based APIs, such as REST.
Development experience with NoSQL/document (Cosmos DB) and SQL/relational databases.
Development experience with multiple data formats, including JSON, XML, YAML, and JSON Schema validation.
Experience with UI/UX improvements.
Experience working with GitHub.
Experience developing backend technology solutions.
Experience designing, developing, testing, and deploying product increments in an efficient and automated manner (CI/CD and DevOps principles, GH Actions, Azure Pipelines).
Must be able to have a strong sense of ownership, being dependable and reliable to stakeholders.
Must be able to take initiative and prioritize tasks effectively.
Must be comfortable working independently in a highly agile environment using scrum development principles.
Must be able to travel 5% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

Microsoft Azure certification.
Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP, or similar platform.
Experience using additional front-end technology stack solutions (MaterialUI, Angular, Polymer, Electron, CSS/SASS stylesheets).
Experience with additional data validation languages (Schematron, JSONPath, XPath, JSON Pointer).
Knowledge of CDISC products (CDASH, SEND, SDTM, ADaM, ODM-XML, Define-XML).
Experience with Azure AD B2C and custom Identity Experience Framework Policies.
Experience with other programming languages such as Java.
Experience working in a regulated industry.
Have active contribution to open-source software products.

Physical Activities

This position is primarily sedentary. Work will be conducted in a standard office environment, requiring the ability to operate office equipment such as a keyboard. Must have the ability to lift 10 pounds and walk short distances. Minimal travel, domestically or internationally, may be required as necessary.
