The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced React/Redux engineer to lead the expansion of our ecommerce website www.hatch.co. We are planning to extend our website to include account integration with our backend systems, as well as extending our ecommerce options to support subscription services.

You will be a technical leader, who is self-directed and able to manage and run a high-impact project. You should have experience integrating JavaScript applications with third-party API services, familiar with e-commerce, and excited to build a new robust platform.

This role will report to our VP of Engineering and work closely with the Marketing team to build the capabilities of our website to be a larger portion of our revenue stream.

This person must be based in the United States or Canada. Hatch is based out of California, so this role would be asked to be available during PST/PDT hours.

What Youll Do:

Within 1 Month:

Become proficient in all aspects of our online presence and capabilities.

Work directly with our back end engineers and marketing team to understand existing ecommerce platforms and requirements.

Develop a plan and architecture for extending the functionality of our website.

Within 3 Months:

Expand our eCommerce platform to handle account creation, subscription payment, and account management.

Integrate with analytics platforms to provide visibility into KPI's.

Support the development and rollout of new business initiatives around subscriptions.

After 6 Months:

Innovate on our technical platform to engage new customers and drive revenue through subscription services.

Grow our web engineering team, establish best practices and processes for development, deployment, and operations of our website.

Drive a culture of experimentation and excellence in all parts of our commerce funnel.

What Youll Bring:

Experience building a React/Redux web application. Experience working with Redux Thunk and Saga is a plus.

Understanding of single page application architectures, including troubleshooting performance issues.

Experience integrating web sites with back-end JSON APIs.

Ability to work independently and drive a technical vision for the website.

Understanding how to architect an ecommerce website with alerting, logging, and high-availability..

Ability to recommend and implement architecture and design standards; e.g. have an opinion on server-side vs client-side rendering.

It Would Be Nice If You Have:

Ability to work with Shopify ecommerce plugins.

Experience building tools for a recurring subscription business model.

Integrating, configuring, and updating Google Tag Manager.

Working with Shopify's Liquid objects to access customer and order information in HTML emails.

Understanding of SEO optimization and organic search.

Understanding of devops including build, deploy, and maintenance processes.
