With the rapid growth of electric vehicle (EV) adoption globally, the aftermarket is not prepared to support the influx of thousands of off-warranty EVs that need to be diagnosed and repaired.
Our client is a stealth seed-stage, software-enabled startup on a mission to revolutionize the repair industry and solve this problem while delivering a trustworthy auto repair experience for EV owners. We’re building innovative solutions that simplify and enhance the customer experience, and we’re seeking a dynamic VP of Technology to join our leadership team. This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of a fast-growing start-up from the ground up. The founding team has built and operated numerous IPO'd startups in the automotive & mobility space, and they're now searching for a full-stack software engineer to help them tackle this mission.

Role Overview
As the VP of Technology, you will be a hands-on technical leader with a "player-coach" mentality. You will be instrumental in driving the development of our product, leading a globally distributed team of developers, and collaborating closely with leadership to shape the strategic direction of the company. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, team leadership, and product development experience to create scalable, innovative solutions that align with our vision.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development: Act as a mentor and leader for a globally distributed engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
Hands-On Development: Be in the trenches with your team by coding, reviewing code, and solving complex technical challenges. Should be eager to lead with a Player/Coach approach, with the ability to dive in and lead a small team to success.
Product Strategy & Execution: Partner with product, design, and leadership teams to define and prioritize technical requirements and product roadmaps.
Vision: Establish the company’s technical direction, ensuring scalability, security, and innovation.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, internal stakeholders, and external partners, including potential investors, to articulate technical capabilities and vision.
Automation and AI: Develop and implement automation, diagnostics, and predictive software systems to enhance product performance and efficiency.
Technical Skillset: Design, build, and optimize data pipelines, ETL processes, and backend services to support robust, scalable systems.
Start-Up Agility: Adapt to the evolving needs of an early-stage start-up, taking on diverse responsibilities and wearing multiple hats as required. Bring a hacker mentality, and include First Principles thinking in your sense of entrepreneurship amongst the team.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a senior technical leader (VP, Director, or equivalent) in an early-stage start-up environment.
- Architect that can envision and execute the technical roadmap, and has played a role in doing so previously. You should have experience architecting a probabilistic or predictive software system, and be able to mentor others on the team to jump in and do the same.
- Strong coding skills and a willingness to contribute directly to development efforts when needed. Fluent in Typescript and other backend programming languages, with expertise in React for frontend development and 100% type safety.
- Expertise in modern programming languages, frameworks, and technologies; experience with scalable architectures and cloud-based systems is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire globally remote teams.
- Experience collaborating on product development, from ideation to execution.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and present to investors.
- A strategic mindset with a hands-on approach; comfortable balancing high-level vision with tactical execution.
- A passion for innovation, problem-solving, and delivering impactful technology solutions.
