Senior Front-End Engineer
TED creates, produces and distributes audio and video media (most famously TED Talks) to millions of people around the world. As a Senior Front-End Engineer on TED's Technology team, you will have the opportunity to have your work showcased on one of the largest stages in digital media. We strive to be on the cutting edge with our front-end toolchain and tech stack. You will work with the latest and greatest technology to develop websites which deliver TED content to millions of people around the world each day. The Senior Front-End Engineer collaborates with an amazing team of developers, designers and product owners to take new features and products from conception to production.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of production Javascript/Typescript experience
- 7+ years of overall software development experience
- 3+ years working with a modern JS client side framework (React, Angular, etc.)
- Strong familiarity with architecting distributed systems
- Demonstrable knowledge of production GraphQL schema design and implementation
- Experience a plus with Next.js, React Native, Ember, Apollo server, GraphQL Federation or Ruby on Rails
- Curious and knowledgeable about web technologies and frameworks
- Strong ownership of work with the ability to drive projects from inception through completion, balancing doing it right and doing it fast
- Able to refactor legacy projects in addition to greenfield development
- Level-headed during time-sensitive troubleshooting
- Value cross-functional collaboration and a diverse workplace
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and evolve system architecture of high volume website
- Design tools and libraries to simplify and accelerate organization-wide development
- Manage and monitor testing, performance, and code quality
- Influence and guide the direction of our products and technology choices
- Foster growth and support other engineers through constructive, collaborative code reviews
- Clearly communicate technical constraints and opportunities with stakeholders
- Other duties and special projects as may be assigned from time to time
- Travel: Upon request / as needed
