Full Stack Web Application Systems Engineer
Location: Remote (U.S. only)
Compensation: Up to $175,000 base salary
A well-funded, high-impact technology company is seeking a Full Stack Web Application Systems Engineer to join a small, high-performing engineering team. This team is responsible for building a mission-critical AI product used in real-world industrial environments. The company recently secured a new round of investment and is expanding its engineering capacity to support product growth.
The Role
This role requires true ownership of applications across the stack—from UI implementation to backend infrastructure. You’ll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining key systems that are deployed in active production environments. This is not a role for someone who has only worked on a slice of an application or followed prescriptive technical direction. You will be expected to lead technical efforts, bring forward architectural recommendations, and execute independently.
You will work closely with the broader engineering organization and interface with customer success teams to resolve complex technical challenges. You will not be customer-facing, but your work will directly impact product delivery and customer outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain web applications across the entire technology stack
- Own systems end-to-end: frontend (UI/UX), backend logic, APIs, infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines
- Implement secure and scalable architecture for authentication, data storage, and deployment
- Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate new features into a production environment
- Participate in a low-frequency, core-hours-only on-call rotation (about once per month)
- Contribute to architectural planning and technical strategy
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in full stack web application development
- Proven track record of owning and delivering full applications from frontend through deployment
- Experience building and scaling new architecture, not just extending existing systems
- Strong expertise in the following technologies:
- Frontend: HTML, TypeScript (Vue.js preferred)
- Backend: Node.js, Python
- Cloud: AWS
- Containers/Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes (preferred)
- Comfortable with API development, database design, CI/CD pipelines, and security best practices
This is a high-ownership role in a rapidly growing organization, ideal for engineers who want to take control of the systems they build and influence core product direction. Remote, U.S.-based applicants only. No visa sponsorship available.
