The Opportunity
As Founding CTO, you will partner directly with the CEO to build, scale, and lead Optimly’s technology function. You’ll start by refining the product roadmap, launching the MVP, and iterating rapidly with early customers. Longer term, you’ll architect the foundation for a “glass-box” LLM designed for transparency, adaptability, and real-world business enablement.

What You’ll Do
- Define and execute the technical vision and strategy in partnership with the CEO and advisors.
- Build and lead a high-performing engineering team as the company scales.
- Design and deliver the MVP, incorporating customer feedback and product-market validation cycles.
- Establish scalable infrastructure and development practices, balancing speed and quality.
- Shape the product roadmap—prioritizing incremental, customer-driven progress toward the long-term LLM vision.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and customer teams to ensure technology aligns with business and user needs.
- Support fundraising efforts by articulating the company’s technology strategy and scalability to investors.
- Contribute as a thought partner to the CEO on innovation, culture, and long-term strategy.

- A hands-on technologist with deep experience in backend and full-stack development.

- Comfortable in ambiguity — able to define structure, priorities, and progress amid fast change.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of engineering experience, with proven leadership in scaling early-stage or growth startups.
- Proficiency in React, Node.js, and Python (backend-focused, full-stack capable).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field (advanced degree preferred).
- Experience leading or contributing to AI or LLM-driven products.
- Prior startup or fractional experience preferred, especially following big-tech tenure (Meta, Google, OpenAI, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and inspire engineering teams.
- Experience partnering with non-technical founders or early-stage CEOs.
