Position Title: Vice President, Mobile Engineering
Work Model: Flexible (Remote or Office-Based, with occasional in-person meetings at a nearby hub)
Role Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced technology leader to head our Mobile Engineering function. This executive-level role is ideal for a hands-on architect who thrives in complex environments and leads from the front. You will guide the design, development, and operational support of high-traffic customer-facing mobile applications across iOS and Android platforms.
This position combines deep technical expertise with strong people leadership. You will oversee multiple agile teams responsible for delivering secure, scalable, and high-performing digital experiences while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and modernization strategies.
What You’ll Do
Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Lead end-to-end mobile application architecture and system design across native iOS and Android platforms
- Oversee development of native UI components, SDK integrations, API-driven services, and embedded web views
- Architect solutions within a microservices ecosystem leveraging RESTful APIs and modern backend frameworks
- Define and enforce non-functional requirements related to performance, scalability, security, reliability, and maintainability
- Guide CI/CD strategy and automation initiatives across the engineering organization
- Support modernization efforts and contribute to long-term technology roadmaps
Team Leadership & Delivery
- Direct multiple agile teams across development, testing, and production support
- Drive program-level planning and execution, ensuring on-time delivery of critical initiatives
- Mentor engineers and managers, fostering technical excellence and career growth
- Provide actionable feedback and cultivate a culture of learning, accountability, and innovation
- Collaborate with product, UX, architecture, and engineering partners to deliver exceptional digital experiences
Operational Excellence
- Ensure adherence to enterprise architecture, security, and compliance standards
- Lead root cause analysis for production issues and guide resolution strategies
- Support 24/7 on-call coverage on a rotating basis
- Optimize system performance and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements
- Oversee third-party integrations and vendor collaborations
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 6 years of experience in software engineering and application development
- Extensive experience developing native mobile applications for iOS and/or Android
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing engineering teams
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills
- Willingness to travel occasionally for business needs
Preferred Experience
- Background in web technologies (e.g., React), API development, and cloud platforms such as AWS
- Experience with continuous integration and delivery pipelines
- Familiarity with mobile observability and monitoring tools
- Knowledge of database architecture, including relational and non-relational systems
- Experience with caching technologies (e.g., Redis or similar)
- Familiarity with JSON, REST, and XML-based services
- Experience in financial services or banking technology environments
- Proven ability to work effectively in matrixed, cross-functional organizations

Eligibility Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Successful completion of background screening, fingerprinting, and drug testing as applicable
- Must meet regulatory requirements for employment in the financial services industry
- Legal authorization to work in the United States is required (no visa sponsorship available)
Compensation & Benefits
This position offers a base salary range of $135,000 to $230,000 annually, with eligibility for performance-based bonuses. Final compensation will reflect experience, expertise, and geographic market considerations.
