Liminal is hiring key product development team members to build the future of generative AI security. This is an unparalleled, ground-zero opportunity to join the engineering team of a well-capitalized, revenue-generating AI-focused startup supported by one of the top-performing venture studios in the US.

As an early-stage Senior Front End Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in building the Liminal platform by owning one of its key pillars: UI. You will be at the forefront of developing a cutting-edge AI security solution, working closely with our talented team to design, build, and bring safe, secure generative AI to regulated industries.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with the existing Senior Front-End Engineer and Tech Lead to design and implement user-friendly and efficient front-end solutions for our B2B cloud SaaS platform.
  • Take a lead role in developing and maintaining front-end components using TypeScript and React, ensuring a responsive and visually appealing user interface.
  • Work closely with product managers and designers to translate wireframes and design mockups into functional web applications, providing input on user experience (UX) improvements.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and debug front-end issues, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, cross-browser compatibility issues, and other technical challenges.
  • Collaborate with the back-end development team (using TypeScript and Node) to integrate front-end components seamlessly with the server-side logic and APIs.
  • Optimize application performance and ensure fast load times by implementing efficient caching, lazy loading, and other front-end optimization techniques.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest web development trends, technologies, and best practices, and share knowledge with the team.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior front-end developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth within the team.
  • Assist in the development of unit tests and end-to-end tests to ensure the reliability and stability of the front-end codebase.
  • Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, to deliver high-quality features and improvements on schedule.
  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to ensure thorough testing and validation of the front-end functionality, addressing any reported issues promptly.
  • Contribute to the documentation of front-end architecture, codebase, and development processes to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding of new team members.
  • Take ownership of front-end performance monitoring and optimization, ensuring a smooth and efficient user experience for our B2B customers.

What You’ll Need:

  • 4+ years of experience working in a software engineering role on a product development team
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Proficiency in TypeScript and hands-on experience with React.js, including the ability to build complex and interactive user interfaces.
  • Strong knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3, including responsive web design and CSS preprocessors (e.g., Sass or Less).
  • Proficient in state management libraries/frameworks such as Redux, MobX, or Recoil to handle complex application states.
  • Familiarity with consuming RESTful APIs and integrating front-end components with back-end services.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with back-end developers, understanding RESTful API endpoints and collaborating on data exchange formats (JSON, XML).
  • Proficiency in using Git for version control, including branching, merging, and resolving conflicts.
  • Experience with build tools like Webpack, Babel, and package managers like npm or Yarn.
  • A strong understanding of responsive web design principles and the ability to create layouts that work across different devices and screen sizes.
  • Knowledge of cross-browser compatibility issues and solutions to ensure consistent rendering across major browsers.
  • Skills in optimizing front-end performance, including code splitting, lazy loading, and minimizing render-blocking resources.
  • Proficiency in debugging tools and front-end testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library) to ensure code quality.
  • Familiarity with collaboration and project management tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, including participating in sprint planning and daily stand-ups.
  • Awareness of CI/CD pipelines and their integration into the development process.
  • Understanding of DevOps principles and the ability to collaborate with DevOps teams for infrastructure and deployment considerations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve front-end issues efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including back-end developers, designers, and product managers.
  • The capacity to adapt to evolving technologies and frameworks in the rapidly changing field of front-end development.
  • Ability to document code, processes, and best practices for knowledge sharing and onboarding.
