Who We Are

Settle is on a mission to make buying inventory super easy. Since the company’s inception in 2019, we’ve been building a cashflow management platform that allows founders and small business owners to more easily manage their company’s financial health with a mix of accounts payable and flexible financing tools. We already work with some amazing brands that you probably know and love, like Starface, Ghia, and Italic.

About the role:

Joining Settle as an early Software Product Engineer you will play a key role in shaping and constructing impactful, results-driven systems, products, and features. With a solid product-market fit, organic growth, and a comprehensive long-term roadmap, you'll be part of a dynamic team driving Settle's success.

We are seeking versatile back-end engineers (some front-end exposure a plus) with a product-focused mindset to elevate our business to new heights. The ideal candidate is forward-thinking, capable of designing enduring foundational systems for the coming years, and adept at steering clear of scope creep while delivering incremental value. We want someone who is iterative in their approach, moves with agility, and places the customer at the forefront of their decision-making process.

What you'll do:

  • Design and build data models, services, and APIs to power our web-app.
  • Scale and secure our systems to support an increasing number of users, features, business requirements, partners, and engineers.
  • Ensure seamless communication and effective collaboration with Product and Design teams in developing customer/user-facing functionality for our app.
  • Collaborate with fellow engineers to build robust testing, integration, and deployment frameworks.
  • Ability to drive projects to completion and fluid communication of ideas and progress to both technical and non-technical colleagues.

What you’ll need:

  • 3-5 years of industry experience, preferably in the B2B fintech and/or startup sector
  • Technical requirements: Proficiency in CS fundamentals, a willingness to learn Ruby on Rails (our primary backend language), and mastery of OOP principles. Familiarity with an ORM framework, eg. Django, Laravel, Sinatra, Flask, Symfony
  • Web-app architecture design. You have curiosity or understanding of how everything fits together from web services up through display and love designing reliable and extensible systems
  • Adaptability. We’re a startup and project needs can change quickly. You love to jump into a new problem, learn what’s needed, and solve it
  • Customer-centric mentality. You care about the user, strive to understand their needs and build tools to solve their problems.
  • Leadership. With rapid growth, we need and expect everyone to be a leader. You have the humility and self-awareness to understand and navigate the unknown while holding yourself and others to a high bar. Additionally, you enjoy mentoring and fostering the development of fellow engineers
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or similar

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of Postgres/SQL databases
  • Front-end development experience, preferably with React + Node JS
  • Startup experience and a passion for the B2B fintech space

Compensation:

This role has an annual starting salary range of $150,000 - $200,000 + equity + benefits. Compensation may exceed this range for exceptional, experienced candidates joining above a senior level.
