We are on the hunt for a seasoned API/Backend Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in developing and maintaining backend services and APIs, with a strong foundation in JavaScript. You'll be at the forefront of building scalable and performant backend systems that fuel our web and mobile applications, making an impact with your work on a daily basis.

Location

Though we do support a remote work environment, our preference is candidates that are located in Utah. However we are open to remote employees in the following states: California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, and Texas. What You’ll Do

Enhance and maintain our AWS AppSync GraphQL API, ensuring high performance and exceptional user experience throughout our application.
Build and manage Lambda functions to create highly responsive and scalable backend services, supporting our serverless architecture.
Develop and optimize SQL queries with a focus on geospatial data, enabling data integrity and performance.
Design and implement asynchronous ETL processes that facilitate seamless data integration and transformation.
Embrace serverless AWS solutions, leveraging the latest technologies to build and maintain a modern, efficient backend infrastructure.
Work closely with front-end engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver a cohesive and integrated user experience, promoting a culture of collaboration and innovation.

What You Bring

Proven experience in developing and maintaining AWS AppSync GraphQL APIs with a keen understanding of GraphQL’s benefits and challenges.
Strong background in SQL, particularly with geospatial data and functionalities, enabling you to contribute to location-based features effectively.
Experience in writing, deploying, and managing AWS Lambda functions, demonstrating your ability to work within a serverless architecture.
Proficiency in AppSync, NodeJS, JavaScript, and TypeScript, with the ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
Expertise in writing optimized Postgres queries for large datasets, ensuring data performance and scalability.
Knowledge of asynchronous ETL processes, with experience in designing and implementing solutions that improve data flow and processing.
Exceptional problem solving abilities and attention to detail, capable of addressing complex challenges and delivering high-quality solutions.
A passion for continuous learning and improvement in backend development practices, keeping abreast of the latest trends and technologies.
