Sr. Software Engineer (Remote)

Start Date: 06/05/2024

Pay Rate: $70-$75/hr

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Research Application Solutions unit. The candidate will be involved in a variety of projects utilizing front-end, back-end, database, and reporting technologies. The role includes developing, testing, documenting, and supporting web and mobile applications using a diverse range of tools and platforms. Additionally, the candidate will work on the "Patient Beyond the Walls" project, utilizing FHIR and developed APIs, and provide on-call support as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Design and build back-end services for data-centric clinical and analytic applications.
Ensure cloud-based micro-services meet uptime and accuracy targets, are resilient, and scalable.
Collaborate closely with data engineering, platform, and solutions teams.
Translate requirements into code in collaboration with Product Owners, Product Managers, and Architects.
Develop services related to data warehousing, big data, cloud computing, business intelligence, analytics, and machine learning.
Participate in DevOps, Agile, continuous development, and integration frameworks.
Program in high-level languages such as Go, Python, and Java.
Create and maintain appropriate documentation of processes and source code.
Communicate effectively with peers, leaders, and customers throughout the organization.
Perform expert-level troubleshooting and resolve problems through root cause analysis.
Contribute to design and architecture discussions.
Lead targeted cross-functional improvement efforts and mentor junior software engineers.
Solve complex problems and provide new perspectives on existing solutions.
Work independently with minimal guidance and may lead projects or project steps.
Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
3 to 5 years of experience in software development.

Preferred Skills:

Knowledge of Epic (EHR System), JetBrains Suite, Tableau, Linux or Unix, Visio, Oracle, Postgres, Vue, Angular.
Experience creating pipelines in Azure DevOps and CI/CD procedures.

Additional Qualifications:

Master's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or a related field is preferred.
Ability to use a wide variety of open-source technologies and cloud-based services.
Experience writing software for the cloud (GCP, AWS, Azure).
Experience in databases, analytics, big data systems, or business intelligence products.
Experience building high-performance, highly available, and scalable distributed systems.
Experience developing software for healthcare-related industries.

Skills and Competencies:

In-depth knowledge of software engineering with experience coding applications or services in high-level languages (C, C++, Golang, Java, C#).
Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
Technical aptitude for designing and implementing software solutions.
Familiarity with modern application development frameworks.
Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with Agile software development techniques.
