POSITION TITLE: Jr. Web Development Software Engineer

We are seeking Jr. Web Development S/W Engineer in Monrovia, CA to support the Deep Space Network (DSN) Operations and Maintenance O&M contract with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and NASA.

This position supports the NASA/JPL Deep Space Network (DSN) through participation in design and development of web-based software applications and tools, performing test, transfer and sustaining activities for software applications including conducting acceptance tests, evaluating test results, providing test reports, coordinating meetings, preparing Engineering Change Requests (ECR), and instructions for implementation and operation.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Participate in implementation tasks from project inception through the operational phase
Provide the support required for transferring new capabilities from development engineering to operations.
Provide software testing support and, in coordination with the Cognizant Development Engineer (CDE), develop and issue instructions for software workarounds to the Deep Space Communication Complex (DSCC) operations personnel.
Coordination of the acceptance and transfer of DSN Packages (MODKITS) for implementation into the DSN.
Maintain technical cognizance of end-to-end system configurations, performance parameters, and capabilities, and provide documentation.
Liaise between personnel at the DSCCs and all DSN Design Engineering for the resolution of operational problems, failures, and discrepancies.
Review software Anomaly Reports (ARs) and Change Requests (CRs) and coordinate with DSN personnel for the preparation of engineering change requests for submission to the DSN Engineering Change Management system.
Identifies operational problems by observing and studying system functioning and performance results; investigating complaints and suggestions; interviewing process supervisors and operators; completing troubleshooting procedures. Perform the analysis required to troubleshoot problems and to help the DSN Project Office determine areas needing attention.
Provide engineering support to assure that the applications and tools are sustained in accordance with established standards.
Provide a timetable and schedules for all development, test and maintenance tasks. This could also include development of computer-based tools and other tools for data collection, analysis and reporting.
Adept in project management using Microsoft Project, Git, GitHub and project tracking using ZenHub
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point
Proven capability of working with minimal supervision
Skilled in performing effectively under aggressive deadlines

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering or acceptable equivalent and 0-2 + years of relevant work experience
1 year+ of programming experience and algorithm optimization, preferably in a web-based environment; familiarity with modern technologies:
- Front-end tools such as HTML 5/CSS, JavaScript, React, and Angular
- Microsoft development environment including C#, ASP.NET, MVC, .NET, .NET Core, IIS, SQL Server, Entity Framework, LINQ, RESTful Web-API, and Windows O/S.
Travel to Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the Goldstone Deep Space Communication Complex (GDSCC) to support customer requirements.

SECURITY CLEARANCE:

This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a trusted background check and pass a National Criminal Information Check (NCIC). In order to obtain a clearance, you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
