What you’ll do

As a SDE at Maestro, you will play an instrumental role in designing, building, testing and scaling both our core technology stack as well as a series of ongoing supply & demand-side growth experiments. You’ll be an integral part of the product creation process, having input at all stages of a product’s lifecycle, fully aware the technical, business, and customer impact of what you build. You’ll be building based on design specs, wireframes, requirements docs and sprint goals, many of which you help define. Most importantly, you’ll writing, testing, and shipping code.

Responsibilities

Rapidly prototype, deploy and support growth experimentation projects to move key supply and demand side metrics
Build, test, deploy, and scale core web and backend technologies including real-time systems, order pipelines, video streaming services and more
Set up and monitor analytics services to ensure our customers user stable, beautiful, enjoyable software
Partner with cross-functional leaders in marketing and product to accelerate progress on company KPIs
Act as the CTO’s technical advisor on mission critical initiatives and opportunity areas

Who you are

You started your career in building and scaling customer-facing systems but have always had an interest in bringing a new product and business to life. You are driven by business impact and a learning machine; no task is too big or too small. You’re excited by building quick iterations in the early stages of the business, and are able to scale them when the time comes. A self-starter, you don’t let yourself get stuck and know when to call for help.

Table stakes

4+ years of experience as a professional software development engineer/software developer
Strong knowledge of Javascript/Typescript in both front and back-end applications (e.g. NodeJS, React/Next)
Has a firm understanding of modern relational database concepts (e.g. Postgres, MySQL) and ORMs
Worked heavily with modern web technologies (e.g. HTTP, REST, caching systems, GraphQL, etc, in either a mobile app and/or web context)
Comfortable using cloud-based service providers and associated tooling (e.g. AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker, etc) to set up, monitor, and scale services
Familiar with modern version control and CI/CD tooling (e.g. Git, Github, Github Actions, CircleCI, etc)
Passionate about building and shipping functional, beautiful, reliable software
BA/BS or higher in computer science or equivalent professional experience
Interested in creating economic opportunity for independent artisans and SMBs

Bonus points

Experienced in consumer tech startups and/or marketplace technology companies
Has built and scaled production order pipelines, real-time applications (e.g. chat, livestreaming), inventory systems and/or video streaming systems
Able to collaborate cross-functionally and quickly build trust/rapport with others
Passionate for the creative arts (e.g., painting, sculpturing, woodworking, filmmaking, design, etc.)
