Mate Fertility is a seed-stage company that is building a new technology-driven solution to vastly broaden access to high-quality fertility care across the United States. Job Summary:

We’re building exciting new technology from scratch and looking for an experienced Founding Full Stack Engineer to own our technical architecture from day 1. This is a blue sky opportunity to work on net-new development, without inheriting a ton of tech debt or a dated monolith.

In this role you’ll own new in-house web applications as well as third party software integrations. You will work closely with a combination of in-house business stakeholders and contracted design teams as needed to scope and refine software requirements before bringing them to life. Once built, you will own an iterative development roadmap to maintain and improve these systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Software Development:
Build from the ground up. Serve as the technical authority across the company as we accelerate our growth together.
Develop user-friendly web applications using modern front-end technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular, or Vue.js).
Build robust and scalable back-end services and APIs using server-side languages (e.g., Node.js, Python, Ruby, Java, or PHP).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.

Database Management:

Design and implement database schemas.
Develop and maintain database-driven applications using SQL or NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).

Integration and Deployment:

Integrate third-party services and APIs.
Implement CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
Ensure applications are secure, scalable, and maintainable.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work seamlessly with product managers, business stakeholders, designers, and other developers to understand requirements and provide technical solutions.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Document development processes, code, and architecture.

Maintenance and Support:

Troubleshoot and debug applications.
Provide ongoing maintenance and support for existing applications.
Monitor and optimize application performance.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience:

5+ years of experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role.
0-to-1 development experience: you have built at least one web app from scratch.
Proven experience with front-end frameworks/libraries (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
Strong back-end development experience with Node.js, Python, Ruby, Java, or PHP.
Proficiency in database management (SQL and NoSQL).
Experience with RESTful APIs and third-party integrations.
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).

Skills:

Strong understanding of web development fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
Knowledge of modern front-end build pipelines and tools.
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Understanding of security best practices in web development.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Stellar written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in the healthcare industry or with healthcare-related applications.

Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
