The Senior Developer is part of a development team responsible for building and working on software systems using the defined technologies. They help guide the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of software solutions in adherence with defined software development life cycle (SDLC) standards. A Senior Developer has significant experience in software development and uses their expertise and knowledge of the industry practices to perform various tasks, while guiding other team members.

They may be tasked with leading a small development activity, reporting to a Project Lead.

Responsibilities:

Build reusable and well-structured code and libraries for future use, test, debug, modify, and document complex systems, requiring thorough knowledge of business processes
Recommend changes to improve established application processes
Review existing systems, and identify required changes to meet new objectives
Actively participate in team code reviews; lead review of your work, as requested
Implement security and data protection functionality, within defined security criteria
Meet defined code quality standards, accumulating minimal technical debt
Perform training and support activities
Write comprehensive manuals, guides, and documents for technical team and end-users
Prepare inputs to project management plan, task identification and definition, including estimation, scheduling, and task dependency management; Manage and updateall assigned tasks, providingstatus updates, and attend all team meetings
Assist in the collection and documentation of user requirements and development of user stories; Transform requirements into actionable tasks
Help identify, analyze, monitor, and implement solutions to issues or change requests
Direct small (2-3 member) project teams, including monitoring of programming activities, assisting peers and junior developers in handling ongoing tasks as required to keep the team as productive and efficient as possible
Implement automated testing platforms and unit tests; Test the product in a controlled environment, prior to release
Maintain proper focus on immediate priorities and scope, based on sprint commitments or business plan, justifying deviations in non-technical language
Awareness of team needs and relevant contributions beyond coding, and the impact of granular coding decisions on the bigger picture objectives

Solid understanding of Internet technologies
Experience in software design and development with a solid understanding of the software development life cycle and software methodologies
Experience with Agile or Scrum development methodologies or relevant methodologies
Strong programming practices; Respected as a problem-solving leader, and resource for others
Understanding of complex database concepts; Expertise with relational databases (ex. MSSQL, Oracle, MySQL)
Knowledge of NoSQL (schema-less databases)
Define appropriately scoped solutions to fit problem space
