Principal Software Engineer (Back-end)

You will:
• Serve as a technical lead for our web applications
• Drive best engineering practices within the team
• Be an internal champion for continuously improving team working processes, code quality, and tools and technology adoption
• Contribute to the vision and long-term engineering strategy
• Participate in peer code reviews and technical meetings
• Contribute to project planning and estimates
• Mentor less experienced engineers in good coding and documentation practices
• Write clean, testable code with an emphasis on performance and maintainability
• Develop new features and fix bugs
• Build reusable code and libraries for future use
• Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability
• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders

You have:
• Experience developing consumer-facing applications
• Experience in developing server side platforms, with a demonstrated ability to understand high performance, high-usage server side applications
• Highly proficient with databases and SQL
• Highly proficient with Docker
• Highly proficient with AWS (ECS, CodePipeline, etc.)
• A passion for continuous improvement and exploring new technologies.
• Competent in fundamental data structures and algorithms
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
• You must have strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to write clean, readable, and maintainable code
• Experience using macOS

Nice to have:
• Experience with MySQL and/or Postgres specifically
• Experience with Python and/or Typescript
• Experience with AngularJS and/or React and/or another SPA framework
• Experience with DataDog and/or Sentry
• The ability to lead and drive a project to completion
• Has worked in startups and enterprises with prototypes and ideas by efficiently building those things into reality
• Has worked on interesting side projects
