The Role
As a Lead Applied Scientist, you’ll serve as a technical lead on agentic AI initiatives within the CoCounsel product suite, focused on tax, audit, and compliance. You’ll work extensively with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), large language models (LLMs), and neuro-symbolic AI—integrating rule-based logic with neural networks to solve problems that go beyond the capabilities of current LLMs.
You’ll be a subject matter expert across the AI lifecycle, collaborating with global stakeholders and guiding best practices from research to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development of agentic AI systems for enterprise-scale tax and compliance applications
- Design and implement neuro-symbolic AI solutions combining rule-based logic with deep learning
- Serve as a technical SME across the AI lifecycle, from prototyping to deployment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders across global business units
- Translate domain-specific knowledge into scalable, intelligent systems
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in applied AI, with a strong track record of leading projects
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field
- Proven ability to bring research into production; engineering experience is a plus
- Strong background in NLP; familiarity with RAG and LLMs
- Experience in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
- Publications or patents are a bonus
- Domain experience in tax or regulatory fields is helpful but not required
