A startup company with a mission to increase government transparency through an AI backed platform that delivers real-time, contextualized policy intelligence is looking for a Sr. Frontend Engineer to join their team. This role sits remote in Brooklyn, NY or the Greater Salt Lake City area in Utah (Salt Lake City preferred) - they will not be required to come in daily but should be prepared to do a once a week lunch in office or come in as needed to meet in person with the team. As a Senior Frontend Engineer, this person will play a crucial hands-on role in leading the design, development, and maintenance of the application while actively contributing to the codebase. They will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions and drive the technical direction of projects.
Their stack includes a Next.js frontend built with TypeScript, Tailwind, shadcn/ui, and Prisma, integrating with a Python-based chat API. This person should be comfortable working across the frontend architecture, writing efficient queries when needed, and unafraid to touch backend code when it helps move the product forward. They will integrate and consume REST APIs and GraphQL endpoints to power dynamic front-end experiences and collaborate with a lean technical team to translate UI/UX designs into responsive, performant interfaces.
They may regularly use AI tools such as MCP or other open-source platforms to enhance development workflows. Lastly, they will deploy and manage front-end applications on GCP, ensuring scalability and reliability. This role owns all things frontend: component structure, state management, performance, and design implementation. Over time, you’ll help evolve the frontend into a polished, scalable system that balances speed, maintainability, and delight. We are looking for thoughtful engineers (without ego) who care about the craft, the user, and the mission.
