Job Description
Join a fast-growing MedTech startup as an Engineering Manager, where you'll lead a small team and collaborate closely with the product owner to drive the development of major features and spearhead the creation of new products. This "player/coach" role requires hand-on expertise in backend development (Ruby on Rails) and modern frontend frameworks (React, Next.js).
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain scalable web applications using Ruby on Rails and React/Next.js.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement technical solutions.
- Lead development of complex features and make key architectural decisions.
- Mentor developers and foster a collaborative engineering culture.
- Ensure high-quality code with TDD, peer reviews, and CI/CD practices.
- Optimize performance and manage third-party integrations (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2).
Required Skills
- Backend: Ruby on Rails (7.x), PostgreSQL, Sidekiq, Redis, REST APIs, security (OAuth2, JWT).
- Frontend: React, Next.js, modern JavaScript/TypeScript, Redux, CSS frameworks (e.g., Tailwind CSS).
- Testing: RSpec, Jest, React Testing Library, CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions).
- Integrations: AWS S3, Twilio, Zoom, error tracking tools, PDF SDKs.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven leadership, mentoring, and problem-solving skills.
- Passion for clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
Nice to Have
- Experience with healthcare SaaS, HIPAA compliance, Docker, AWS, or startups.
Compensation
- Compensation: $180K - $190K + stock options and benefits.
