Tempus Insights is a product- and technology-driven investment research firm with a mission to redefine due diligence for growth equity, venture capital, and hedge fund clients. Tempus Insights was founded in 2023 by Sean Tanaka, who previously led Bain & Company's Growth Equity and Hedge Fund Due Diligence practice. During his 12 years at Bain, Sean built and scaled specialized teams serving premier growth equity, venture capital, and hedge fund clients and led over 100 due diligence projects as a Partner.

About the role
The core of this role will be implementing and iterating on full-stack product features in Python/FastAPI and Typescript/React, for example:
- Designing and iterating on key business process and project management features that govern the workflows on our platform
- Developing and optimizing sections of our end-to-end pipeline that transforms raw interview transcripts into polished due diligence research
- Building an AI system for autonomous expert interviews from the ground up
We have an iterative, exploratory workflow, which means:
- You’ll start out building scrappy, pragmatic implementations of new features and have the opportunity to own, iterate on, and perfect them over time
- You’ll be continually supported to learn and grow both your technical expertise and soft skills, with opportunities to direct your own learning and pursue technologies that interest you
- You’ll work with the latest advancements in LLMs and become expert in building complex AI pipelines and agentic systems
About you
- Excited to learn about and work with new technologies, whether it be adding battle-tested approaches to your toolbox or keeping up with the forefront of AI advances
- Passionate about building product, eager to start scrappy and perfect a system by making iterative improvements in response to user feedback
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and defining software architecture to solve product requirements
Required qualifications
- US-based, Pacific Time preferred
- Strong computer science/software engineering background (by education or experience)
- Some experience across the full stack, including proficiency in at least one of Python or Typescript/Javascript and exposure to both backend and frontend frameworks
- Values writing clean, maintainable software, including documentation; skilled in refactoring, improving, and iterating on code
- Experience with using LLMs to accelerate software development; opinionated about how to integrate AI tools with your development workflow
Preferred qualifications
- Direct experience with some or all of the components of our tech stack (Python/FastAPI, Typescript/React, PostgreSQL, AWS)
- Experience building software systems that leverage LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.)
- Some experience working at an early-stage company (e.g. startup internship)
- An eye for UI/UX design, comfortable building interfaces and layouts from scratch
