As a Staff SDET at Sirona, you would define and drive our test automation vision company-wide. This is a technical leadership role for a hands-on engineer who can set quality strategy, architect complex test systems, and influence the broader engineering culture to achieve continuous quality at scale.
This role is remote, with the first week of employment including onsite onboarding in our San Francisco office.

Key Responsibilities:
- Define and own the organization’s end-to-end test automation strategy and technical roadmap
- Architect enterprise-grade test frameworks for distributed systems, data pipelines, and API services
- Partner with engineering leadership to embed quality principles into product design and architecture
- Lead technical design reviews and drive adoption of testability patterns across teams
- Establish metrics and dashboards for measuring test effectiveness, coverage, and release readiness
- Mentor and grow engineers across teams to build a quality-first mindset
- Lead cross-functional quality initiatives — improving observability, reliability, and automation efficiency
- Stay ahead of industry trends and ensure our tooling and practices remain state-of-the-art
Key Requirements:
- 10+ years of software engineering or SDET experience, with demonstrated technical leadership
- Expertise in Python and strong experience with distributed systems testing, with a deep understanding of application architectures built on frameworks such as React and Django
- Proven track record designing and scaling automation frameworks across multiple product teams
- Deep experience with CI/CD, deployment pipelines, and test orchestration in complex environments
- Excellent cross-functional communication; ability to influence at the organizational level
- Demonstrated success in driving measurable quality improvements across multiple teams
Nice to Have:
- Extensive experience with regulated healthcare enviornments (HIPAA, FDA, ISO 13485, or similar)
- Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure and observability (AWS, Kubernetes, Datadog, etc.)
- History of thought leadership — conference talks, publications, or open-source contributions

The annual US base salary range for this full-time position is $130,000 - $150,000 + equity + benefits. Pay scale is flexible depending on experience. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, relevant education and training.
