Pahle India Foundation (PIF), chaired by Dr. Rajiv Kumar, former Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, is inviting applications for a full time position of Data Analyst / Data Scientist.
About Us
PIF is a purpose-driven action tank committed to shaping evidence-based, impactful policies for India’s economic transformation. We work closely with state and central governments on district-led development, export-led manufacturing, Ease of doing business, strengthening data systems, and impact assessments.
Role Overview
- Collect, clean, and structure large-scale datasets to enable rigorous analysis.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns
- Build and maintain high-quality panel datasets with multiple levels of identifiers to support longitudinal tracking and analysis.
- Apply advanced econometric and statistical techniques—including fixed effects models, linear probability models (LPM), difference-in-differences (DiD), Nearest Neighbour Match / Propensity Score Matching, and Instrumental Variables—to draw causal insights from data.
- Translate raw data into meaningful insights through visualizations and summary statistics.
- Support the development of predictive models
- Conduct qualitative analysis
- Apply natural language processing (NLP) and sentiment analysis tools
Educational Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Economics, Econometrics, Data Science, or related quantitative disciplines.
- Strong academic training in econometrics, statistics, and programming (Stata, R, or Python) is essential.
- Clustering analysis, familiarity with supervised and unsupervised learning techniques (Regression, KNN, Random Forest, ADA Boost, XG Boost), predictive modelling
- Familiarity with tools for qualitative analysis, such as NVivo, Atlas.ti, or sentiment analysis libraries in Python (e.g., VADER, TextBlob, spaCy), is highly desirable.
- Prior experience working with HR, labor market, or administrative datasets in a research, consulting, or analytics setting will be preferred.
- Understanding of behavioural economics/science concepts (e.g., choice architecture, default effects) is a plus.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
